TeleG was established on 31st October 1999, as the first daily Scottish Gaelic Digital TV channel.
TeleG programmes are transmitted daily on Freeview between 6-7 pm, giving viewers an opportunity to watch Gaelic programmes, 365 days per year.
The Broadcasting Act 1996, requires that programmes shown will be repeats of programmes transmitted on analogue channels. A new and more comprehensive Gaelic channel, BBC Alba, was launched on 19th September 2008, in a partnership between BBC Scotland and MGAlba. The service can be seen on Freesat channel 110 or Sky channel 168.
The Broadcaster and service provider of TeleG is SDN, the company which holds the licence for DTT multiplex A. SDN Ltd, now owned by ITV, was awarded the digital terrestrial multiplex A licence in May 1998. |
